Ever since she was a teen, Rachel Dolezal is
said to have professed an affinity for black people. She has black siblings
(her parents adopted four black kids), she chose a college where she could immerse
herself in racial issues, and she married a black man and built a reputation as
an advocate for civil rights.
Rachel A. Dolezal a university instructor in
African-American Studies at Eastern and the current president of her local National
Association for the Advancement of colored People (N.A.A.C.P.) in a rare twist has
suddenly turned into a subject of national debate. As a University instructor
in African-American studies, Mrs. Dolezal has claimed for years that her
heritage is partly black, but her parents say that this is a not true.
This has caused quite a stir on social
media websites, with a new hashtag #RachelDolezal being added to quite a number of twitter
and instagram posts like the ones seen below:
Do you think that this situation is being
blown out of proportion? I think that if she lied about being black, I would
like to know the reasons why.
