Jada Pinkett Smith: “Willow’s Beauty Isn’t Measured By The Length of Her Hair.”

The very talented Jada Pinkett-Smith has spoken openly about her parenting style. People have always ha something to say about her parenting which includes allowing her children to express themselves in how they dress and style their hair. While son Jaden recently cut his hair and rocks a simple short cut but he doesn't seem to be in the forefront like her daughter Willow, who is is constantly experimenting with color and texture. 

Apparently Jada is fed up with the commentary, and took to Facebook to set people straight. Check out the comments people, tell me what you think!

The question why I would LET Willow cut her hair. First the LET must be challenged. This is a world where women,girls are constantly reminded that they don’t belong to themselves; that their bodies are not their own, nor their power or self determination. I made a promise to endow my little girl with the power to always know that her body, spirit and her mind are HER domain. Willow cut her hair because her beauty, her value, her worth is not measured by the length of her hair. It’s also a statement that claims that even little girls have the RIGHT to own themselves and should not be a slave to even their mother’s deepest insecurities, hopes and desires. Even little girls should not be a slave to the preconceived ideas of what a culture believes a little girl should be.

What is Co-Washing?

If you are new to the Natural hair arena then you will come across a lot of new terms. Co-Washing is one of them. But what does it really mean? 

Co-Washing is the process of washing your hair with conditioner as opposed to regular shampoo. But how will your hair be clean it you don't use shampoo? Yes, this method removes enough oils and dirt without drying out hair. Co-washing is preferred by the naturally curly community as a primary washing method mainly because it is very gentle on curls and won't strip your hair of its essential natural oils.
