Styling Natural Hair with heat

There are a lot of opinions out there when it comes to taking care and styling your natural hair, some advise you to stay away from heat and other say you can but not to often but you must always use something to protect your hair from heat damage and breakage. But I always say, the final decision is yours. If you want a little variety with you look for that extra special occasion, then you are free to try this technique that mahogany curls use.

I have been following her for over two years and I have learnt  some really helpful tricks that I still use on my hair, so I hope this video makes a difference. ღ Pretty Impression  .

I love this video hope it was helpful!

The PERFECT 3-STRAND TWISTS

Since my hair has gotten to a little past shoulder length, I have been trying to do a lot of different things with it especially for work so that I don’t get bored with my hair. I have always wanted to try a twist out but it never seems to dry in time or remain moist. After about an hour or so I always almost end up with a big poof! It has been really frustrating. I came across this three strand technique and have been practicing to perfect it.

A three strand is really a twist with 3 individual pieces of hair that intertwine around each other; to create one twist. Instead of small waves, your hair is set in more of a spiral curl look. It enhances your natural curl pattern and brings out the beauty in your curls.

The PERFECT 3-STRAND TWISTS

STEP 1: Co-wash and Detangle your hair

STEP 2: Add a leave-in conditioner (for moisture) an oil and a cream to prevent frizz and leave hair nice and soft.

STEP 3: Follow this video and practice your technique. Don't attempt to look at your self while doing it, this would cause you to loose focus.

STEP 4: Cover, re twist and repeat for best results.

Tried it myself and the first time wasn't so great so keep practicing and you will soon figure out the best technique for your hair. ღ Pretty Impression     .

Silk vs. Satin - Both Protect Hair From Breakage So Does It ReallyMatter?

This is one of the first things I learnt when I made the decision to go natural, the importance of wearing a bonnet. So does it really matter if it's satin or silk? Honestly I don't think it matters but here are some things that do:
Ensuring that your head is covered. This is important if you want to maintain healthy hair. The bed sheets tend to suck moisture out of your hair and cause you to wake up with dry frizzy hair. The friction from the sheet can also cause breakage and allow your hair to tangle really quickly.  Deciding to choose satin or silk a purely a matter of preference. I always believe that no matter what advice you may read or be given, it's always important to do what you think is best for your type of hair and also what has been working for you.
